I know it's there, even if it's not there.

we have a computer program into which we enter all the activity for a case.
me: "can you please give me a demand on the x case?"
boss: "I'm sure I've already given a demand."
me: "It's not in the system."
boss: "I'm sure it is. If I look at the notes, am I going to find it?"
me: "no, bc I just looked."
we then go to my desk and he looks at the notes over my shoulder, and doesn't find the one he's looking for:
boss: "I'm sure I put one in."
me: "can you just admit that I was right and that there's no note in the system?"
boss: "that's not right. I know that I put it in."
me: "but I'm right that it's not there now."
boss: "what did you do? did you delete it?"
me: "yes, bc that is something that would make my life easier. It makes more sense for me to put a number in and then avoid this conversation."
boss: "well, put a note in now."
